Musician and TV personality Bonginkosi Dlamini, popularly known as Zola 7, is set to be honoured at the annual SA Heroes Awards alongside Khabonina Qubeka with the Ubuntu & Art of Giving Awards, the Citizen reported.
On September 30, the renowned awards ceremony will be held at the Johannesburg Theatre.
According to the SA Heroes Awards website, the award ceremony “recognise the important social and environmental contributions made by organisations through the excellence of service, commitment to their beneficiaries, ethical behaviour and environmental sustainability. These awards celebrate ordinary South Africans who are doing extraordinary things to uplift their communities.”
The award winning singer and philanthropist has helped many people achieve their aspirations for social and personal growth through his SABC1 television program “Zola 7,” which focuseS on creating libraries for local communities.
Zola 7 expressed his gratitude for the honour and recognition. While speaking to the Citizen, he told the publication the following:
“Thank you for the recognition of the work I have done for the people. Receiving this award is an honour.”
The host of the awards show will be the actress Linda Njotini-Ugbobuaku.
Zola 7’s documentary titled Zola: uMdlwembe, which aired on Saturday, 20th August on SABC1, showcases his musical journey. The documentary will dive into his debut album, also titled Zola: uMdlwembe.
The 48-minute documentary shows Zola 7 breaking down some of his most iconic songs and sharing some never-heard-before stories about those fan favourites and how they came about, according to the South African.
