Zola 7 will be sharing his musical journey in an upcoming documentary which will be airing on Saturday, 20 August.

Bonginkosi Dlamini, better known as Zola 7, has made an unforgettable impression on the South African music industry, and he is honoured to be able to share his journey through his upcoming documentary.

His documentary, entitled Zola: uMdlwembe, will be broadcasted on SABC1. The documentary will be diving into his debut album of the same name.

The 48-minute documentary will have Zola 7 breaking down some of his most iconic songs and sharing some never-heard-before stories about those fan favourites and how they came about, according to the South African.

In conversation with ZiMoja, the kwaito legend told the publication that it’s always been a dream of his to have a documentary about him and his music.

“Not many people get the opportunity to narrate and share their journey while they are still alive.”

“These are all the things I prayed for and wanted, which happened in front of my eyes. It was an absolutely amazing time for me. I come from a township where we are told that things like these will probably never happen, and we became the generation that proved that anything is possible,” he shared.

His debut album, uMdlwembe, came about during the height of his career when he was in the South African television phenomenon, Yizo Yizo.

The documentary will feature the likes of Maggz, Kaybee, Proverb, Towdee Mac, Ph Raw, Ms. Supa, C-live, Rashid Kay, Amu and many others.
