Babes Wodumo allegedly recovering at her parents’ home

by Johana Mukandila

South African musician Bongekile Mildred Simelane, better known as Babes Wodumo has allegedly returned to live with her parents, who are reportedly helping her recover after her alleged hospitalisation.

The news of the Gqom queen’s alleged illness surfaced after the IsiZulu newspaper Isolezwe reported last month that the musician was critically ill.

Zimoja claims that the Umngan’wami hitmaker is recuperating from “lung-related issues.”

“Babes is fine, she is now gearing herself up for the festive, she wants to be 100% ready for the festive season,” said a source who told the publication.

Isolezwe’s sources allegedly told the publication that Babes was unwell and had breathing problems. Another source told the publication that she had suffered greatly as a result of losing her spouse, Mampitsha.

Mampintsha whos real name was Mandla Maphumulo died on December 24 2022 after suffering a stroke.

While the singer’s supporters have expressed concern for her health, her sister and manager, Nondumiso Simelane, has insisted she is in good condition.

She said to Isolezwe that the Wololo hitmaker missed the July events in Durban because she was performing abroad.

“We missed the event because of our return flight back home, but we communicated this to the organisers of both events and they understood the situation.

“[Babes Wodumo] is in great health. Maybe her silence on social media is why they are assuming she is not well. She is currently busy with two albums, her own and Mampintshas,” said Nondumiso who told the publication.
