Following the firing of Dineo Ranaka who co-hosted the station’s breakfast show with Sol Phenduka, seasoned radio host Azania Mosaka is reportedly on the verge of joining Kaya 959 and is set to replace Dineo.

According to Sunday World, Azania will be the new Afternoon Drive show host from August, replacing Sizwe Dhlomo who stood in for Dineo when she was off radio due to her mental health.

46-year-old Azania has worked as a radio host for Metro FM. Before moving to Power 987, she worked for 13 years at the SABC radio station. She transferred to 702 in 2015.

The publication mentioned above further reported that Dineo was supposedly fired by the radio station this month after being off air since 22 May due to her struggles with her mental illness.

The reality TV star was accommodated in every way possible, according to acting managing director Colleen Louw, who wrote an internal email to the staff of Kaya 959. This included facilitating her admission to a mental hospital, where she reportedly released herself a few days later, Sunday World further reported.

However, Kaya 959 says the DJ did not communicate her medical issues with the radio station. Instead, she allegedly went absent without leave. Colleen also claims that they found out about her challenges on social media.

They attempted to get in touch with Dineo to inquire about her well-being, says Colleen, but they were unsuccessful. They also wanted to help and work with Dineo once more in the future.

Dineo is currently working on her own podcast which is in collaboration with MacG under Podcast and Chill, titled S*x n Stuff.
