The statement reads:

“It is with great sadness that we report that our beloved family member, friend, and colleague, Eusebius McKaiser, passed away unexpectedly earlier this afternoon,” the family said in a statement.

We would like to thank everyone for the outpour of love and support during this difficult time. Further announcements regarding his memorial service and funeral will be made shortly.”

Many politicians, celebrities and South African citizens have been paying their respect since hearing of the passing.

Here are some of the tributes sent out for the political analyst:

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) sent out their condolences to late journalist saying:

“The EFF mourns the passing of veteran columnist, broadcaster and print journalist Eusebius McKaiser, McKaiser was not only a journalist, but he was an activist who believed in social justice and the rights of all human beings to be respected, particularly those of the most marginalised.
