Mandoza’s biopic actors allegedly not paid

The late Kwaito legend, Mandoza’s name has been circulating in the media over claims that the Life of Mandoza’s biopic producers and management had not paid actors their salaries. The Nkalakatha superstar succumbed to his death in 2016 following a lengthy battle with cancer.

News of the musician’s biopic production surfaced early this year, with award winning actor Wiseman Mncube to play Mandoza, and Lorraine Moropa to play the late singer’s wife Mpho Tshabalala.

A letter seen by Sunday World from the Kwaito legend’s former manager and the Life of Mandoza’s executive producer, Vaughn Eaton, confirms the non-payment allegations.

The contents of the letter, which is said to be dated 4th of May reads, “I am writing to you today to apologise for the delay in payment for the services that you provided to our organisation.”

“We understand that this delay can cause inconvenience for you and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused.”

The letter further adds the reason for the delay in payment, stating that the production and management was still waiting to receive money from funders.

“We are currently awaiting payment from our funders and unfortunately, the payment process is taking longer than anticipated. We have been in contact with our funders to expedite the payment process and expect resolve as soon as possible.”

“Rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to resolve this matter as soon as possible but can assure all cast and crew that all payments will be finalised.”

The letter also added;

“We value our business relationship with you, and we hope that this delay in payment does not affect our future collaborations. We are committed to settling this outstanding payment with you as soon as we receive payment from our funders.”

“Once again, please accept our sincerest apologies for the delay in payment. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.”
