Rapper Mthembeni Ndevu, known to many as Emtee, has reportedly filed for divorce from wife and mother of his two children, Nicole Chinsamy.

According to TshisaLIVE, a source revealed that the award-winning rapper moved out of the apartment he shared with his soon-to-be ex-wife and was staying with a friend in Fourways, after he filed for divorce in April.

The publication also states that Emtee had not fully vacated the apartment yet. He said, “I haven’t moved out completely yet. It is what is. I don’t want no problems.”

The Pearl Thusi hitmaker replied with a simple “yep” when asked by TshisaLIVE to confirm whether he had filed a summons for divorce.

The divorce proceedings follow after Nicole withdrew an assault case against the artist in March. It was reported that Emtee had allegedly beaten-up Nicole on Valentine’s Day and appeared in Midrand magistrate’s court for the incident.

Sunday World previously reported that Nicole released a statement about the alleged assault. The statement read, “On 03/03/2023, I opened a common assault case under domestic violence against my husband Mthembeni Ndebele. He was arrested on 08/03/2023. Therefore, I hereby wish to withdraw the charges against Mthembeni Ndevu. I forgave him for the sake of my kids.”

The publication added that Nicole had also stated that nobody coerced her to drop the charges against the artist. The statement also read, “I was happy and satisfied with the investigation and the court proceedings up to this far.”

Regarding the divorce, TshisaLIVE reports that Nicole declined to comment.
