Closing the chapter to those who hurt you

In previous years, we have experienced many people saying, “the time for motivation has passed.”

This year, people are moving with what works for them. Do you really want to continue living your life by sharing it with those that hurt you?

When you realise it’s enough, it’s time to close the chapter and move away from people who feed you negativity and leave a dent in your self esteem. Do you need that? I think not!

According to Medium there are ways where you can close some chapters of your life painlessly. Be it family, friends, lovers or jobs. There is life after some relationship.

Everything comes to an end

We know that some stories have two sides to them, when you used to have fun with the person, they helped you. However, the case may be, if the negative outweighs the positive to a point where you do great without them. End it.

Medium says, there are more chances someone sometimes can cause more damage to you emotionally.

Don’t feel bad for moving on

Psychologist Leon F Seltzer says thinking too much about times gone by typically keeps your mind — and life stuck in neutral (and shifts it into reverse). You may be revisited by feelings of anger, guilt, resentment, or shame.

Always remember the reasons why you want out of the relationship. “Romanticising the past will lead to the backtracking of any progress,” says Leon.

Doing it for yourself

Advice shared by Psychology Today is “When you get caught up in doing better, achieving new things, or spending time with better people, your mind doesn’t have the time to process or dwell over old memories. The only way to get lost in this new possibility for the future is to indeed, — be purposeful about it. Engage in active distractions and rid yourself of the time to experience painful nostalgia.”
