Media personality Somizi Mhlongo weighs in on the remark which Khanyi’ Mbau made regarding traditional healers.

The Idols judge did not appreciate the comments made by Khanyi as he found it to be “to be disturbing.”

Khanyi Mbau took to her Instagram account recently and spoke about the topic of urban sangomas and anxiety – and the subject has got many people talking.

The actress said that urban sangomas are not called but rather are experiencing anxiety.

“You do not have a calling… It’s anxiety!!!!”

“I am not attacking you. Just saving you money. Stop buying cows, chickens and goats,” she said.

In yet another edition of bathroom talks with Somizi the media personality criticised the comments saying that people should not speak on behalf of others but themselves.

“I think we must never speak on behalf of other people. We must never do that because we are not them in the first place and secondly, we are not walking in their shoes,” he said.

“I think people are woke, they are finding themselves, and they are finding themselves unapologetically.”

“All I’m asking for is that people should respect other people’s beliefs as long as it does not harm you physically, emotionally, financially. Let people be,” he said in his Instagram video.

Although many people agreed with Khanyi’s comments, there is however, those who found her comments insensitive to the African culture and traditional healers. Here is what they had to say:

At this rate if asekuzani we might all end up as healers. I’m afraid I agree with her.

I feel like when people say things like this it’s disrespectful to people who are actually gifted and affected by things concerning African spirituality
