Instagrammable wine farms to visit in the Western Cape

The Western Cape is known for its viticulture, some of the best wines, to mention a few, come from Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Constantia. In our opinions, the Western Cape wine industry is what the Champagne region is to the alcoholic beverage, champagne.

Far and Wide ranked South Africa 8th in their ‘Best Wine Countries in the World’ article and said, “It mostly centers around the winelands that surround Cape Town.”

Wine Farms are an excellent antidote because they are usually immersed in nature, with the sounds of birds and the aroma of fresh jasmine being commonplace. Some include strolling paths, and even during the colder months, they might have cozy fires and lovely outside scenery.

If you visit these wine estates for a day trip or a vacation, you may have fine dining while sipping on these delectable wines and take in their history, art, and architecture. However, what’s a day out without ‘Instagram worthy’ pictures to tell the story? Here are some of the Western Cape’s most prestigious and instagrammble wine estates:

Quoin Rock Wine Estate

The tranquil, vineyard-dotted landscape of Quoin Rock, which is located on the slopes of the magnificent Simonsberg Mountains just outside of Stellenbosch, is an ideal setting for taking advantage of all the enjoyable activities on the estate, not to mention the wine!

Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate

Benguela Cove is the ultimate vacation spot and winery. This seaside haven in Hermanus provides boat cruises, vineyard visits, delicious food and wine pairings, winery visits, and wine tasting. The establishment also has an art gallery celebrating local artist. You’re guaranteed to not run out of picture spots in this gorgeous estate.

Do you want an in-depth guide to another wine farm in the Western Cape? Then you should check out this closer look at Babylonstoren in the Drakenstein Valley.

Hazendal Wine Farm

This historic wine estate, the first in the region and one of the oldest in Stellenbosch, is set against the picturesque background of the Bottelary Hills. Hazendal has a variety of things to satisfy every interest, but it also has its foot firmly in the modern world. This is a really unique Winelands destination, featuring everything from its art, architecture and  a jazz club .

Grande Provence

The 325-year legacy of Grande Provence Wine Estate is worn with pride. Her luxuriant vines cover 47 acres and are tucked away in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley in the Western Cape. The valley floor is framed by rolling panoramas, which add to the drama of the distant, rocky mountains. The Estate is where Grande Provence’s acclaimed wines are produced. The driveway into the estate will leave you mesmerized and stop for a picture on your way out.
