WATCH: Jada Pinkett Smith gets candid about the impact of quarantine on her marriage

Jada Pinkett Smith got candid about the impact of quarantine on her marriage during an episode of her Facebook show, Red Table Talk. In the episode, the star spoke to her and Will‘s personal counsellor and intimacy expert, Michaela Boehm, and Pastor John Gray about feeling the pressure in your relationship during this quarantine.

Jada shared that despite being married to Will for 23 years, she didn’t really know him. “One of the things I realize is that I don’t know Will at all. I feel like there’s a layer you get to. Life gets busy and you create these stories in your head and you hold on to those stories. And that is your idea of your partner but that’s not who your partner is. So going through the process of having to dissolve all the stories and all the ideas of Will that I’ve built around those stories.”

She added; “The thing that Will and I are learning to do is be friends, right? Because you get into all of these ideas of what intimate relationships are supposed to look like, what marriages are supposed to be. So Will and I are in the process of him taking the time to learn to love himself, me taking the time to learn to love myself, right, and us building a friendship along the way.”

She continued; “Let me tell you that’s been something to be married to someone for 20-some odd years and realise ‘I don’t really know you and you don’t know me.’ But also realising there’s an aspect of yourself you don’t know either.”
