Lerato Sengadi releases HHP Lifetime Achievement Award statement

Lerato Sengadi has released a statement addressing the accusations laid by HHP‘s former business partner, Seabelo Modibe. In an interview with Sowetan, Seabelo disputed the Joburg High Court ruling that Lerato is Jabba’s wife and should therefore not accept his SAMA Lifetime Achievement Award on his behalf.

He said in part: “She must stop using Jabulani’s name for publicity, she is not Jabulani’s wife as they were not married. She cannot use the previous court order which declared her the legal wife of Jabulani because the family was granted leave to appeal by the same court. The leave to appeal automatically rescinds the court’s previous decision which declared her Jabu’s legitimate wife.”

In her statement Lerato shared that she submitted all the relevant paperwork required by the SAMAs and RISA to have HHP considered for the award. She further explained that after receiving confirmation that HHP would receive it, she invited his son to accept the award with her.

She expressed her disappointment at Seabelo’s comments saying in part: “It’s disturbing the Mr. Modibe has decided to conduct a media tour to slander my name and contribution to this award. This award is to further cement Jabba’s icon status within the music and entertainment industry, and it is unfortunate that Mr Modibe would use such a celebratory occasion to mare Jabba’s illustrious career as well as villainize myself.”
