Former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune showed brotherly love to the team’s current captain and goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, after Canada eliminated the squad from the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He applauded his performance, noting that he has his full respect.

The tournament’s co-host scored a goal during the 90+2′ during the Round of 32 on Sunday, 28 June 2026.

On 1 July 2026, Khune hopped onto his Instagram account and shared a few pictures and videos of himself and the Mamelodi Sundowns player, who earned the title of the ninth-best goalkeeper worldwide at the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards.

Affectionately referring to him as Ronza, Khune stated that he deserved his flowers while he could still smell them.

“Skipper, you’ve taken goalkeeping to a whole different level. SA has given the world the best goalkeeper of all time.”

He wrote, “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things. Thank you so much for this historic moment. It really made me emotional and happy.”
