Hugo Broos has reportedly been offered a one-year extension to remain Bafana Bafana coach until after next year’s AFCON.

Broos’ current deal was set to expire this month, but the extension would see him continue building on a squad that reached the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup for the first time, reports SABC Sport.
Bafana legend Teko Modise called the move an easy decision. “You want a coach players can relate to, and with the team he has built, hopefully this time he can take us to the promised land.”
Modise added that staying on would also give Broos the chance to refresh the squad and introduce more young talent.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Josta Dladla echoed that sentiment, praising how Broos integrated inexperienced players into the setup.
“This is somebody who took us to the World Cup with no problems. Youngsters came up, and no-name players just came into the camp with confidence. If he is staying, for me, that is a good thing.”
The development casts fresh doubt over SAFA’s reported search for a successor, with former coach Pitso Mosimane previously the frontrunner.
Broos, 74, is expected to return to South Africa this week for the funeral of Bafana Bafana player Jayden Adams, a period in which his future is expected to be finalised, with 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea-Conakry and Eritrea beginning in September.
