The South African Football Association (SAFA) president, Danny Jordaan, was visibly annoyed when reporters asked him about the future of Bafana Bafana’s head coach position. He also dispelled rumours of Hugo Broos’ one-year contract extension, calling the claims “nonsense.”

Hugo previously announced his retirement, but South Africans were unsure if he would still fulfil his role as Bafana Bafana’s head coach.
Danny Jordaan gets hot under the collar
Surrounded by local journalists, Danny shared that he had just landed in South Africa after the 2026 FIFA World Cup ended and had not yet met with his team. He confirmed that Bafana Bafana has a coach. However, he refused to share any more details.
“There is a process. The technical team makes a recommendation to the National Executive Committee. The National Executive Committee finally decides on the coach. So, you cannot stop me in the street and hijack a decision. It’s not going to happen… South Africa must wait.”
After a reporter shared that the country was confused about what was happening to Hugo, Danny accused him of interrupting him and remarked, “You’re out of order, and you must behave yourself.”
It remains unclear when SAFA will announce who will succeed Hugo as the next Bafana Bafana head coach.

Local internet users quickly shared their opinions of the SAFA president and his response that left many confused.
“This is a pathetic excuse. So when he is out of the country, there is no work done, no objectives and goals?!”
@Vhakhonimajor shared with the online community, “He needs to stop getting emotional when answering questions. But, to be fair, the journalist wasn’t giving him a fair chance to finish his responses either.”
