Tips to starting your own Youtube podcast

With technology rapidly rising as each year passes on, human beings have been finding creative ways and strategies of increasing communication over long distances.

Think about it, ten years ago words like TikTok, influencers and content creators would have been taboo. Yet, here we are in 2023 and Tik Tok is one of the biggest video platforms in the world, and content creators are capitalizing on the app as a medium to showcase their abilities.

The last two decades has also seen the introduction of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, and not to forget YouTube that each brings something unique in their own right.

While we constantly see an introduction of new things, there have been some things that been merely been evolved in our generation today – yet, has a much more powerful impact than 20 years ago.

One of this is Podcasting – digital audio content that is distributed over the internet using a podcast hosting service.

Although the first ever podcast was introduced by Chris Lydon and David Winer under the initial term “audio blog post” in 2003, before Ben Hammersley combined the words “iPod” and “Broadcast to form the word Podcast a year later – lifestyle and entertainment publication- Forbes- says that the growth of platform and the benefits of hosting your own podcast are endless.

It is a way of helping you build a new network of relationships by reaching out to industry leaders through your virtual door, earns you a passive income by collaborating with companies who align with your brand and showcases your expertise in the profession you are in.

Here are some tips to starting your own podcast:

Talk about things you’re interested in

Most followers often lean towards podcasters who are their authentic selves. This is why it is important that you can touch on topics that are influenced by your personal experience.

It’s also important to remain relevant with the times and invite experts to offer their opinions on the show.

Focus on your target audience

Castos – a podcast hosting platform – notes that it is important to know that you cannot please everyone.

“It’s best to narrow your focus to a specific listener avatar who will get the most value from your content. For inspiration, research topic options in a variety of places like relevant forums or online groups that are related to your target audience.”

Engaging with your audience in the comment section are also a good way of finding out what they are interested in.

Be consistent

“In order for you to attract and retain listeners, frequent episode releases are necessary. Additionally, having a set schedule allows you to plan ahead and make content that is both engaging and relevant to your audience,” highlights lifestyle publication, Forbes.
