Dry lips, who? Lip serums to the rescue

If you’ve ever had the dreadful sensation of dry, cracked lips, you know how difficult it can be.

Let’s be real for a moment, nobody wants to see your lips feeling like a desert in the winter or after wearing matte lipstick too much. Lip serums, however, have entered the conversation and are prepared to transform your dry pout into a luscious one.

Although we adore lip balms, lip serums? They give us the glow-up we didn’t realise we needed. The nourishing components in lip serums provide long-lasting hydration that gives your lips the appearance of a five-star spa treatment.

According to Typology, the most common moisturising ingredient found in lip serums is hyaluronic acid (INCI name: “Sodium Hyaluronate”).  This substance is found naturally in the skin and lips and acts as a molecular sponge to hold onto water molecules. It supports collagen and elastin fibres and aids in the formation of the dermis’ connective tissue. Unfortunately, as people age, their dermal supply of hyaluronic acid tends to diminish, which can result in thinning lips, wrinkles, and drooping skin. “Applying a lip serum based on hyaluronic acid is less invasive but also promotes good results in terms of lip hydration, giving them a plumped appearance.”

Consider these to be lip care products since, well, your lips do deserve it!
