5 Signs of incompatibility in a relationship

It is most people’s hope when they get into a relationship or when they are ready to settle down to find a person that they are compatible with as signs of compatibility also means that you share the same interests. Being compatible means sharing the same values, knowing how to handle differences, understanding and helping each other when stressed, having the same sexual energy, and feeling safe, among others.

Following are 5 signs of compatibility in a relationship according from marriage.com.

Can’t be yourself – the inability for one partner to be their true self around the other may be from seeing incompatibilities in the relationship, that may lead to them hiding who they are, not being open on how they feel in order to avoid arguments. The one partner may conclude that portraying the real character will not work well in that relationship. The relationship might also end up being exhausting as the pressure of doing and saying the right thing may be tiring.

Different intellectual levels- if you think you have intellectual differences, you can make your relationship work by engaging yourself in thoughtful and sensible conversations. If this is not solved, it can make the one partner with a lower intellectual capacity shy to speak especially in front of people.

Unmatched sex drives – having one partner with a high sex drive than the other one can be very frustrating. For incompatible relationships in such a situation, one’s intimacy needs might not be met, and the other might feel compelled to meet those intimacy needs. Incompatibility of this nature, and the lack of effort towards working on changes may lead to relationship deterioration.

No similar interests – the relationship can work when you have different interests, but it’s better when some of these are match. The relationship can become weak if you do not have this time together and share all your interests with other people or on your own instead.

Different schedules – when one partner is busier than the other, the partner who has more free time may feel ignored. It may lead to them having insecurities and resentments. Without putting any pressure on the other, dedicating time doing activities together may be a solution. Failure to make time in this case may lead to the relationship fading.
