Important vehicles inspections to do ahead of your road trip this Easter

by Sergio Miller

While the core foundation of Easter celebrations remains a faith-based observation honoured by Christians all over the world, it is also a time for families to get together and enjoy a weekend of unity, love and adventure.

This usually means getting out, booking a guest house, spending time in nature, and immersing yourself fully in the great outdoors as you hit the asphalt surfaces while soaking in a much-deserved road trip with loved ones.

Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Of course!

While many of us look forward to experiencing all of this and many more unbelievable activities it is of utmost importance to ensure that all safety measures are taken into account before venturing off among some of these one of the most notable things to do is ensure that your vehicle is ready to hit the road.

During these road trips, malls, gas stations, and small towns are often spaced large distances from one another, which could make it quite tricky if you were to find yourself stuck and in need of help.

However, there are certain things you could put into place to see that these instances can be avoided.

Here are a few important checks to do on your vehicle ahead of the long Easter weekend as highlighted by SupaQuick:

  • Wiper blades
  • Horn
  • Tyres
  • Fluid (brake fluid, engine oil, engine coolant as well as windshield fluid).
  • Battery
  • Brakes

Meanwhile, the Automobile Association of South Africa (A-A) also recommends having an emergency kit handy.

Make sure that your emergency kit – which includes an emergency triangle, wheel brace, jack and spare wheel – is all in perfect condition.
