Get Your Pre-Holiday Body Back

by Amanda Ndlangisa
working out lady

Ladies, your relaxing, indulgent holiday is fast becoming a distant memory but those extra centimeters cushioning your body are a stark reality. Suddenly, your dress is a bit tighter, or your shirt doesn’t button up quite as easily as it used to. Many of us over indulged during the festive season and are looking for some guidance on how to get our healthy lifestyle back on track.

Healthy-eating

Gareth Powell, National Training Manager at Ultimate Sports Nutrition (USN) gives us a few tips to get that body back:

Track your progress

Write down your goals and plan how you will achieve them on a week by week basis. As you progress through your goals, tick them off and celebrate each little win. At the end of each month go back and review how much you have changed.

Prepare your dietary habits in advance

Mistakes that you make in your approach to eating are often caused by poor preparation, or missed opportunities to be better. Pack your meals, along with your protein shakes and snack replacements, into a cooler bag to make sure that you keep on track with your diet.

Clean out your grocery cupboards

Remove all of the processed foods. Replace this with healthier options like nuts and seeds instead of chips and chocolates! This means that you can better manage your approach to your nutrition even if your will power is somewhat lacking.

Manage your time

Time management is often the hardest part. You have to start making time to fit in new routines. Commit to spending 4% of your day on 60 minutes of physical activity. Your meal preparation at night will only take up around 20 minutes of your time. Many people that I consult with on a daily basis tell me that they don’t have ‘time’ to do this, yet they are the same people watching four hours of TV every night. You will either find a way, or you will find an excuse.
