  1. Never start a healthy living journey by taking away the things that you love; rather add good things. As you get used to that lifestyle, the need for the bad things will naturally fall away.
  2. Increase the amount of raw fruits and vegetables you consume by adding them to every meal.
  3. Incorporate as much activity as you can into your daily routine. Walk more, take the stairs and play with your children. Moving frequently is a vital requirement.
  4. Ensure that you are full when you go shopping. The food choices you make on a full stomach are drastically different to what you would buy while hungry.
  5. Judge a lifestyle choice by how you feel afterwards. Have you ever regretted eating a salad or going for a walk in the sun?
  6. Start and end your day with gratitude. Focus on what you have in life rather than what you lack.
  7. Reduce your consumption of sugary foods, such as chocolates and cakes. This is because they trigger you into eating more due to the sugar rush they cause.
