Thinking of dying our hair this festive? Here’s what you need to know

by Limpho Nonkonyane
HAIR DYE: PEXELS

As the festive season draws near, many individuals are eager to try out various hair colour dyes. While platinum blonde may be a popular choice, it’s essential to recognize that there are plenty of other colours to explore.

Before diving into the dyeing process, it’s crucial to understand what’s necessary to achieve the best results for your hair.

According to Haircare Hub, Excentric, when you use bold hair colours on your hair it can enhance texture and add volume, as high-quality dyes often contain thickening agents, which help achieve this added volume.

The above-mentioned source also adds that the result is a glamorous look with a noticeable colour shift. Many people, especially women, often underestimate how changing their hair colour can transform their features and complement their skin tone. Not everyone’s natural hair colour pairs well with their skin tone, which can lead to a dull and washed-out appearance.

Before dying your hair it is also important to note the dangers that come with putting these chemicals in your hair as some people are often allergic to hair dye products leading their scalps to react badly.

Annmarie Gianni, a haircare expert, states that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) reports that hair dye products contain over 5,000 distinct chemicals. Certain substances have been related to cancer in animals.
