Effective tips to help reduce dark marks on skin

Taking care of the health and overall state of our skin should be our top priority.

Why? You may ask. The answer is simple. It is the first part of our bodies that people are exposed to as they engage and interact with us daily.

Just like the logo of some of the world’s most renowned companies, presentation is key, and how we choose to present ourselves to the rest of the world is of utmost importance if we wish to make a lasting impression on things like job interviews, presenting roles or simply interacting major stakeholders when delivering a keynote speech on behalf of your company.

One of the most common problems many people find themselves dealing with is having dark marks on their face.

According to multiple reputable sources, this can be as a result of several external factors some of which include acne.

Meanwhile, the Health publication highlights that other major contributions are likely to include thyroid dysfunction, stress, sun exposure as well as pregnancy.

“Estrogen and progesterone play a role in melasma. Both hormones affect melanin production, and their levels rise during pregnancy, producing even more melanin,” highlights the above-mentioned source.

What is Melasma?

According to Cleveland Clinic this is a common condition that is characterised by brown or grey patches on the surface of one’s face. Some of the more common reasons why females in particular experience these is due to changes in the hormonal balances – particularly during pregnancy or menopause.

As with every obstacle there is always a solution. According to health and wellness publication Healthline, there are various remedies you can make use of to ensure that you restore your skin to its natural complexion.

These are:

  • Aloe Vera
  • Polypodium leucotomos
  • Tranexamic acid
  • Glutathione
  • Sun protection
