Never underestimate the power of a handbag to complete your ensemble. A bag might be the smallest detail to your outfit but it holds the biggest impact. A handbag isn’t just a bag, it carries your life! Plus, a simple handbag can bring any outfit up to date…

Just like the right denim, the right handbag not only looks good but has the power to make you feel good as well. Your favourite handbag is versatile, practical, and timeless, but there’s always room to splurge on an investment piece…

With so many bag styles and silhouettes, we’re rounding up the biggest bag trends for the season. Get ready for some new arm candy!

Autumn bag trends

XL bags!

Micro bags are so last season! Bags are now in their oversized era and we’re loving it. Forgo having multiple bags for your essentials and invest in the biggest bag for the season – the oversized tote bag.

This style just proves that bags can be stylish and practical as well.

First seen on the runway when Louis Vuitton sent models down carrying patent uber-sized tote bags under their arms. From then, there was no stopping this bag style from dominating the trends for Autumn ’23.

Style Tip: The minimalistic characteristics of this bag style makes it so versatile to accompany any outfit.

2. Structured bag

Also known as the business bag of the season. Regardless of the shape, the structural component remains.

These are the bags that hold their own – there is not a slouch nor fold in sight. It is ideal for a minimalist capsule wardrobe as it adds a clean, polished feel to any outfit.

Style Tip: Go classic in black for a chic sophisticated look

3. Bright, shiny bags

Metallics are now not only for festivals – adding a hint of shine to your wardrobe never hurt.

This trend comes in many colours but silver is the one to keep your eye on.

Style Tip: Don’t dull the shine and keep the bag for the evening. It’s a perfect way to brighten a basic yet stylish outfit. A light wash denim and plain white tee with sneakers is the look we going for – paired with a statement metallic bag.

4. Handle with care bags!

A top-handle bag will never go out of style. Its vintage feel is still fresh as a trend for the season. The boxy shape gives it a retro yet modern look.

It might not be very versatile but it is certainly the most polished style out of the lot.

Its many shapes and sizes will ensure it matches any outfit. So before you reach for an evening clutch, think about a top-handle bag in its mini form.

Style Tip: Add a keyring to bring it on trend even more.

5. On Cloud Nine bags…

Don’t sleep on this one. Pillow bags are trending!

Style Tip: Although this bag might have shoulder straps, it’s best carried under the arm.

It often comes in a slouchy style and is a great accompaniment to a more fitted or structured outfit. The juxtaposition of the two silhouettes marries perfectly together.

Look for one in a nylon fabrication. It is hardier so it will last a long time.

6. Talking to the Moon bags

The structured crescent moon-shaped bag leaps the slouchy version.

This bag is mostly worn over the shoulder and offers a snug fit under the arm. This gives your look a very sleek finish.

Style Tip: This bag in a classic shade will be a wardrobe essential because of its longevity – taking you through more than one season.

7. Buckle up bags…

A nod to the 2000s, this Y2K bag style is back and better than before. This season we see a modern take on solid hardware on bags.

Buckles are chic with a hint of edge but these buckles are often functionless and only there for decoration.

It taps into the utility trend that will be seen everywhere in apparel.

Style Tip: Don’t be afraid of mixing metals when it comes to hardware buckles on bags.
