As you get older your skin tends to produce collagen slower tan usually causing you to get wrinkles, but worry not as it is a normal part of ageing and your body changes over time.

However, lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, and sun exposure also influence collagen production and skin ageing. In addition to the natural ageing process, environmental factors like smoking and pollution can accelerate the development of wrinkles. While there is an abundance of skincare products and cosmetic procedures aimed at preventing and reducing wrinkles, these options can be costly. It is important to consider lifestyle choices that can support collagen production and maintain youthful-looking skin.

Here are 5 ways recommended by Healthline on how you can reduce wrinkles:

  1. Wear sunscreen: Sunscreen should be an important step in your skincare routine as protecting yourself from sun damage can ensure that you do not get wrinkles prematurely.
  2. Moisturiser your skin daily: The above-mentioned source recommends daily skin hydration as dry skin is more prone to wrinkles. It is also advised to use a moisturiser that contains hyaluronic acid.
  3. Don’t smoke: If you want to reduce wrinkles it’s important to not consume tobacco products as they cause cancer but damage collagen in your skin smoking causes your skin to not get enough oxygen due to the reduction of the blood flow in your skin.
  4. Relax your face: Refrain from always frowning or squinting as it causes you to have wrinkles. The hub suggests various methods such as meditation or regular exercise to reduce stress.
  5. Opt to always sleep on your back: Healthline states that a 2016 study found that sleeping on your side or stomach can speed up wrinkle formation and distort facial skin.
