The musician, whose real name is Lethukuthula Mhlongo, shared an update about the accident on Facebook, but many followers mistakenly believed the crash had happened that day.

According to Daily Sun, Umafikizolo has since clarified that the accident actually took place on 30 July 2026 and that he had kept the incident private for some time before deciding to tell his fans about it.

Fans panic over accident post

The 25-year-old singer said he decided to update his supporters about the crash more than a month after it happened. However, the post was misunderstood, with some followers believing he had just been involved in an accident.

The reaction quickly escalated as concerned fans and people close to him contacted him to find out whether he was injured.

Umafikizolo eventually deleted the post after realising how much confusion it had caused, but by then screenshots and discussions about the update were already circulating.

The musician has now confirmed that he escaped the accident unharmed.

His dream car was written off

While the Uyoncengwa Unyoko hitmaker walked away from the crash without injuries, his Toyota Fortuner was badly damaged and reportedly written off.

The singer described the vehicle as his dream car and said it was still relatively new when the accident occurred. Despite losing a car he had worked hard to buy, Umafikizolo said he remains grateful that he survived and is able to continue working.

He also vowed to work hard to eventually replace the vehicle, the publication reported.

Following the panic caused by his post, Umafikizolo urged his fans to remain calm and read his social media updates carefully. He explained that his intention was simply to let supporters know about the accident and reassure them that he was not injured.

The singer said he did not intend to shock or frighten anyone with the update.

Umafikizolo’s career continues to grow

The accident comes at an important time in the young musician’s career.

Umafikizolo has enjoyed major success with his hit song Uyoncengwa Unyoko, which has helped establish him as one of the rising names in South African maskandi.

The song recently earned him significant recognition, including the Ukhozi FM Song of the Year title, while he has also received recognition at major South African music awards.

Despite the setback of losing his vehicle, Umafikizolo remains focused on his music career.

For fans who feared the worst after seeing his Facebook post, the most important update is that the singer is alive, unharmed and continuing with his work.
