Many South Africans are unhappy with the country’s economic state that has seen fuel and food price hikes over the years, with the unemployment rate soaring higher.

Political leaders and ordinary citizens have been voicing their opinions on the state of the country with United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader General Bantu Holomisa not holding back when it comes to criticising those in power.

The general who is quite active on the social media platform X, an app that was formerly known as Twitter, took to the platform to express his views on the ANC government’s alleged corrupt activities.

“These thieves are consistently increasing fuel prices . They have collapsed Eskom’s coal generating plants in favour of using diesel which they are benefitting from it. Thebe & Batho Batho Trust are ANC’s cash cow companies . Talk of institutionalised corruption . #VukaDakhi (#WakeUpBlackMan),” said Bantu.

The general’s post attracted a lot of criticism with some echoing his words. Internet users commented:

One user felt that the leader was only after the ANC commenting:

I never heard you general criticize eff or mk to you is only ANC ?

One user was confident that the ANC did not stand a chance at the coming elections to be held on the 29th of this month, commenting:

General don’t worry about the ANC because come the 29th of May they are going to be the opposition.

Another user asked:

I thought this type of tweets are usually only from people who are not really informed…so how does s.a government really sets fuel prices IST in their control completely??
