Amapiano vocalist Thatohatsi is taking more than musical experience from working with industry heavyweights DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small. Speaking to Daily Sun, the Springs-born star, known for tracks including Izospana and Ama Hem Hem, said one of her biggest lessons was learning not to let social media criticism affect her confidence.
Building a thicker skin
Thatohatsi stated that she can sometimes be impatient and easily affected by what people say online. Working alongside the established amapiano figures has taught her to develop a thicker skin and remain focused on her goals.
For emerging musicians, her experience highlights an important reality of the modern music industry: public opinion can change quickly, but consistency and dedication remain essential.

Staying focused on fans and her craft
The young vocalist also credited Maphorisa and Kabza De Small with teaching her the value of hard work and investing time and passion into her craft. Rather than becoming distracted by criticism, she wants her energy to go towards creating music that connects with listeners.
According to Daily Sun, social media is also central to her approach to music promotion. Social media is where the fans are, and it gives independent and emerging artists a direct way to reach audiences and build momentum around their releases.
Thatohatsi is now preparing to perform at Scorpion Kings Live at FNB Stadium. With Maphorisa and Kabza De Small leading the event, she expects this year’s concert to be bigger and more memorable.
Her performance will be an opportunity to put the lessons she has learned into practice while creating the joyful, energetic experience she wants fans to remember.
