On 10 September 2025, radio host and media personality Sizwe Dhlomo weighed in on a statement by Gayton McKenzie, leader of the Patriotic Alliance. McKenzie had announced that his party had appointed the law firm Cliffe Dekke & Hofmeyer to investigate allegations involving Kenny Kunene, a senior PA figure. He added that questions about the matter should be directed to the firm and not the party itself.
The comment that set things off
Soon after McKenzie’s post, Sizwe Dhlomo responded on social media with a sharp remark: “Do you understand how ANYTHING works? Like anything!” The tone of his message was widely read as mocking. While short, the comment fuelled speculation that Dhlomo was ridiculing McKenzie’s handling of the announcement.
We have appointed reputable law firm Cliffe Dekke & Hofmeyer to investigate, we shared that information with media, shouldn’t you as media call them to ask how far the investigations is instead of doing your usual bashing ? You tiring https://t.co/db56Aah1KT

Reactions from the public
The response online was immediate. Some users accused Dhlomo of stirring trouble intentionally and labelled him as someone who enjoys attention. Others defended him, arguing that his blunt question reflected how unclear McKenzie’s message had been. The divide highlighted how quickly political updates in South Africa can turn into social media debates where personalities clash as much as policies.

Where things stand
For now, McKenzie has not replied directly to Dhlomo’s jab. What remains certain is that the Patriotic Alliance has placed the Kunene allegations in the hands of a law firm, while Dhlomo has once again reminded the public of his willingness to speak his mind. Whether this exchange develops further or fades away, it has added another layer to the ongoing conversations around accountability, politics, and celebrity voices in South Africa.
