Scam or nah? Fans spot red flags with Kanye West’s upcoming concert

Despite confirmation from the main man himself, fans have voiced their scepticism after spotting a few red flags regarding the upcoming Kanye West concert, scheduled to take place in Ellis Park, Johannesburg, this December.

After a few unfortunate, but somewhat avoidable instances ended in tears, South African concertgoers and music lovers have developed major trust issues over the years, as scams have found their way into the industry. A few times in the past, we have seen fans not only be swindled of their money, but also end up disappointed without having seen their favourite artists.

Although not necessarily a scam, the upcoming Hey Neighbour festival serves as a case in point, as it went from denouncing its main act to pushing the date back from August to December, as well as changing the duration from three days to only two. These announcements garnered immense backlash as fans who had already bought their tickets felt slighted by event organisers.

Recently, Monyake Group, in collaboration with Pundit Production and Gearhouse Technical, revealed that they would be bringing the one and only Ye to South African soil. Shortly after, Ye himself took to his social media to confirm that he would be performing at Ellis Park this December.

Despite this confirmation, South Africans are still hesitant to snatch the tickets, as they voice a few concerns regarding the company responsible for making it happen. According to these potential attendees, the promoters of the event are the ones making things difficult to believe, from typos and glitches on their website, and even their questionable posters.
