SABC anchor Noxolo Mtshali resigns after 15 years

Veteran anchor Noxolo Mtshali bids farewell to SABC after 15 years. Noxolo, famously known as a Zulu news anchor on the South African Broadcasting channel took to her socials to announce her departure.

She has been with SABC since 2009 where she started as a kid’s news presenter and later moved into the main news bulletin every night.

Although she never stated the reason behind her resignation, she came after her former colleague Noxolo Grootboom resigned from the channel after 37 years.

Noxolo posted this heartfelt caption on her Instagram saying, “The sadness in my heart as I type this. After 15 years as a public broadcaster, I started as a kid’s news presenter in 2009, moved on to doing the weather report for the main news bulletin, and later started anchoring the lunchtime and main news evening bulletin. June 2023 started presenting a 3-hour breakfast show called Ekhaya jikelele.”

She further expressed that there was nothing more she loved than anchoring her news in isiZulu, adding that she had learnt a lot in her field during her time at the broadcasting channel.

She ended:

“Unfortunately, everything comes to an end. I am heartbroken to announce that 27/03 was my last bulletin at the SABC Zulu desk. Thank you SABC News for the opportunity.”

“Thank you so much to my wonderful audience who always showed me the greatest love, sending messages of appreciation and support. I love you so much sizwe sikaPhunga noMageba and also a lot of non-Zulu speaking people who tuned in even when they couldn’t understand a word that was uttered. Unkulunkulu anibusise.”

Unkulunkulu unami nakulesikhathi. Ngiyamethemba🙏🏽
