New faces, new energy: ‘Selimathunzi’ returns to SABC1

SABC1’s long-running entertainment lifestyle show Selimathunzi is set for a fresh new chapter, with a revamped presenter line-up and a new season scheduled to premiere in October 2026. 

According to SABC1, the refreshed show, now branded Hotspot Selimathunzi, will premiere on Thursday, 1 October 2026 at 18:00 on SABC1 and SABC Plus.

The new faces

The new season introduces Khanyisile ‘Khanyi Mars’ Masimola, Munaka Muthambi and Oratile ‘Roiii’ Kgobe as the new presenting team. The trio brings experience across broadcasting, digital content, music and entertainment to the popular programme.  

Khanyi Mars joins the show as an award-winning presenter with experience in artist interviews and live hosting, while Munaka Muthambi is known for her work as a digital creator and lifestyle personality. 

Roiii, meanwhile, has built a career spanning music, radio, content creation and entertainment.

The refreshed line-up follows the departure of familiar faces from the programme. Former presenter Zanele Potelwa recently said goodbye to Selimathunzi after several years on the show, congratulating the incoming presenters as they begin their own journey.  

The programme has been a familiar fixture on South African television for decades. Its format focuses on entertainment and popular culture, including celebrity interviews, music, fashion, events and lifestyle stories. SABC1 previously relaunched the programme as Hotspot Selimathunzi, with Siphesihle Vazi, Sparks and Zanele Potelwa among its presenters.  

With the latest revamp, viewers can expect the new presenting trio to bring their own personalities and perspectives to the programme while taking audiences closer to the people, places and experiences shaping South African entertainment culture. 

The new season of HotSpot Seli starts 1 October at 18:00 on SABC1 and SABC Plus.
