Miss SA ends relationship with Miss Supranational

by Sergio Miller

Pageantry organisations Miss South Africa and Miss Supranational have officially decided to end their partnership.

The news was confirmed by Miss South Africa via a statement shared on social media, highlighting that Miss South Africa will not be competing in the Miss Supranational event, which will be held in Poland in June this year.

“The Miss South Africa Organisation has decided not to participate in the Miss Supranational 2025 competition and will not be renewing its license for the event.”

While there have been several rumours circulating the internet about the end of their journey together, the organisation further highlighted that none of what has been said was true.

“We note the fake news circulating and confirm that this decision was made solely by the organisation and is not attributed to Miss South Africa 2024, Mia le Roux, nor the runner-up, Nompumelelo Maduna.

“We deeply value the memories and connections of this event. We wish Miss Supranational a spectacular event,” the statement concluded.

Commenting on the matter was Miss Supranational 2024, Bryoni Govender, who extended her appreciation towards both organisations for the platform that they have given her the opportunity to live out her dreams.

“Forever grateful for the impact Miss SA had on my supra journey,” she wrote.

However, not everyone was pleased by the sudden decision. One person highlighted that withdrawing from many of these top pageantry competitions might shatter the dreams of aspiring models.

“You dropped Miss World, then withdrew from Miss Universe during the competition, now from Miss Supranational. Why do you have to crash dreams of ladies in pageantry?”
