Fikile Mbalula, the Secretary-General of the African National Congress (ANC), has commended the South African delegation led by President Cyril Ramaphosa for their recent meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
The meeting aimed to ease tensions between the two countries sparked by Trump’s claims of white genocide in South Africa.
Fikile praised the delegation’s efforts, stating they successfully represented the country and set the record straight. He expressed his admiration on X (previously Twitter), highlighting the team’s hard work. The ANC Secretary-General also emphasized that Ramaphosa has been elevating South Africa’s voice on the global stage.

The delegation’s composition drew criticism, particularly regarding the inclusion of Johann Rupert, Ernie Els, and Retief Goosen. However, Fikile clarified that Trump specifically requested their presence at the meeting. According to Mbalula, the US President wanted these individuals as part of the delegation that met with him in the Oval Office.

Economic Growth: Prioritising job creation, industrialisation, and economic transformation to uplift citizens and promote inclusive growth.

The meeting between Ramaphosa and Trump addressed pressing concerns and marked an effort to strengthen bilateral relations between South Africa and the United States.
