2023 has definitely been Mama Joy’s year. From free trips to France to rubbing shoulders with Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa. South Africa’s favourite Mama now has a paint colour partly named after her and had her house painted for free.
Currently living in Soweto, the Limpopo-born sports fanatic has been an avid sports fan for decades. It was only during the 2023 Rugby World Cup when she gained popularity.
Mama Joy’s popularity has since presented her with several perks, a recent one being the revamping of her house.
On 25 November, Mama Joy shared that the company Splash Coatings had plans to paint her Orlando Pirates-inspired coloured house for free and use the colour Joyful Springboks – a colour named after her and the national rugby team.

Posting a picture of Mama Joy also getting in on the action, Splash Coatings mentioned that the new colour was in celebration of the former Orlando Pirates supporter’s “unwavering support” for the Springboks.

After the paint job was complete, Mama Joy thanked the company for her new Springboks-coloured house and made it clear to her fans that the previous colours were not inspired by Kaizer Chiefs but Orlando Pirates.
