Internationally acclaimed music composer and Grammy Award-winner, Lebohang Lebo Morake’s mother will be laid to rest on Tuesday, the 11th of May at Fourways Memorial Cemetery next to her husband.
Speaking for the Morake family, Simphiwe Majola shared the funeral details of the Morake matriarch. Simphiwe said: “The burial service to honour the extraordinary life will take place on Tuesday March 11, 2025, from 08:00-10:00 at Fourways Memorial Chapel. She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Mr Morake, at Fourways Memorial Cemetery.
“The Morake family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, support and comfort during this difficult time. Your kindness and presence, whether in person or spirit, mean so much as they bid farewell to a cherished matriarch,” said Simphiwe.
Magogo Nomvula Grissel Morake passed away last week at the age of 100. The family shared in a statement that she died peacefully after a beautiful and restful night.
“A true matriarch, she was a pillar of love, wisdom, and strength within her family and community. Her legacy of kindness and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her,” read the statement.
The Lion King producer recently honoured his late mother ahead of the Academy Awards. He took to his Instagram page to share that he dedicates the Oscar nomination of The Last Ranger to his enduring legacy and the impact of his beloved mother.
He hosted an intimate pre-Oscar dinner at the iconic Mr Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills, and was joined by his co-executive producers Sibo Mhlungu and Anele Mdoda, filmmakers and cast of the film.
