Gig guide for Cape Town this December

December is a time when everyone lets loose and enjoys themselves, as the festive season and holidays will be upon us.

It is advisable to plan your calendar and know which events are worth attending this December.

If you will be in Cape Town, here are some of the events that will take place this December:

RY X  with Msaki– Live in Cape Town

From coastal Australia to stages around the world, RY X has carved a sound that defies category, blending ambient, indie, and subtle electronic textures into something uniquely his. RY X is an artist who weaves intimacy and atmosphere into every note. His music is rooted in emotion: whispered vocals, spacious production, and meditative depth.

With a voice of power and poetry, Msaki brings her magic to the night – alongside RY X, carrying his timeless sound from Australia’s shores to stages worldwide.

The event will take place at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden on on December 12. Gates will open at 6pm, while the show will start at 7pm to 10pm, at the cost of R695 to R995.

Cape Town Carols at Kirstenbosch

Proudly hosted by the Rotary Club of Kirstenbosch, sponsored by Pick n Pay, and supported by Radio Tygerberg 104FM and Fine Music Radio, the Mother City’s most-loved carols event returns this year to the picturesque Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens from Thursday, 18 to Sunday, 21 December 2025. R125 gets you in.

If picnic set ups, Christmas song singalongs and the age-old Christmas story is your vibe, this is for you.

Baxter’s New Year’s Eve Party

Ring in 2026 at The Baxter and be part of the celebration! This year’s New Year’s Eve party promises to be bigger and brighter than ever. From 10:30 pm, dance the night away with a live DJ — party-only tickets are just R100.

Patrons attending any of the evening’s shows will automatically receive free entry to the party. Come along for the countdown to midnight, complete with a traditional balloon drop, a complimentary glass of champagne or juice, and an unforgettable atmosphere.
