Gcina Mkhize wins 1st round in effort to save her home

South African actress Gcina Mkhize has won the first round of her battle to save her home, and still seeks legal assistance as the new owner of her auctioned home continues attempts to evict her and her family.

Gcina, renowned for the character of Khanyisile Majola-Ndlovu on Isibaya, has had an ongoing battle of eviction from her house in Glenvista, Johannesburg after the bank sold her house on auction, following failure to pay months of her bond installments.

Recently, the thespian shared that during her court appearance at the Booysens Magistrate Court where she filed court papers opposing her eviction from her house, the court ruled in her favour and allowed her matter to heard on February 5, 2026.

“The court ruled that the application for postponement was accepted. This will give me more time to get a law practitioner who will be able to assist us on the house matter. It’s a small victory and we cannot be excited about it, but at least I know that during the holidays me and my kids will not be on the streets. I will be going back to court again on the 5th of February 2026. I am not sure I am allowed to get into the details of how the proceedings unfolded but what is important is that we were granted the application to postpone,” said Gcina.
