South African actor Nathaniel Junior Oliphant has officially said goodbye to Generations: The Legacy after an impressive 10 years on the popular SABC1 soapie.

Oliphant, who played Detective Mpho, announced his departure on 20 September 2026, marking the end of a decade-long chapter in his acting career. The actor reflected on his journey and hinted that an exciting new chapter lies ahead.
He described his time on the soapie as ‘10 solid years’ and expressed gratitude for the experience, leaving fans curious about what he will tackle next.

From a cameo to Detective Mpho
Oliphant’s journey on Generations: The Legacy began very differently from where it ended. In a response to a fan, he revealed that he initially joined the show in a cameo role as an orphan who had grown up on the streets.
Over the years, that character’s story developed, eventually becoming the young detective viewers came to know as Mpho. His decade-long run made him a familiar face to Generations: The Legacy audiences.
