DJ Lebogang Naves, popularly known as DJ Naves, has shared the profound grief and emotional journey he has faced over the past six months. The known DJ and music producer opened up about the loss of his mother to cancer on Instagram, revealing how the tragedy has impacted both his personal life and his family.
“I have had the toughest six months of my life and my family’s life,” DJ Naves wrote. “We lost my mother to cancer in January, and it’s been really hard trying to process the grief and move forward.”
In a heartfelt Instagram post, DJ Naves also touched on the impact of celebrating his birthday shortly before what would have been his late mother’s birthday. He expressed the emotional weight of experiencing these milestones without the family matriarch.
“Yesterday, I celebrated my birthday knowing that a day later is my late mother’s birthday. It’s an entire bunch of firsts that are taking place without the family matriarch. Every day we wake up and try again. I wish the pain of losing umzali(parent) nobody gets to experience that because you are never the same after this.”
The DJ’s tribute to his mother was not just an acknowledgement of his pain but also a testament to her lasting influence on his life.
“Happy heavenly birthday, Mom. Your strength, love, and guidance continue to inspire us every day. We miss your laughter, your wisdom, and your unwavering support. Though you are no longer with us in person, your spirit and the lessons you taught us remain deeply ingrained in our hearts. We love you and will carry your memory forward in everything we do,” he wrote.
