Another lead actor bids farewell to ‘Umkhokha: The Curse’

by Samantha Mochele

Msizi Njapha has announced his departure from Umkhokha: The Curse. The actor known for his role as Khulekani Mthembu, confirmed to Daily Sun that he is no longer part of the show, denying rumors that he was fired.

“I didn’t leave or get fired. I had a great time on the show, and I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunity and the growth it brought about. But the story of my character had to come to an end. It’s Umkhokha at the end of the day. Death is the centre of the story,” he told Daily Sun.

However, according to ZiMoja, three top actors, including Msizi, have allegedly been fired from the telenovela. Along with his on-screen wife, Angel Zuma (who played Nomkhosi) and Kwanele Mthethwa (who played Nobuntu) have also reportedly left the production. The reasons behind these firings include reports of bad behaviour and diva tendencies displayed by the actors during shoots

The publication further indicates that a reliable source revealed that Msizi had been arriving late to set and, on some days, appeared intoxicated, delaying production. “These are the same reasons why Msizi was fired from The Lion King,” the source stated. “These were hard decisions to make for producers. They are great actors, but they had to let them go.”
