The journey from Africa to the United States has officially begun as dozens of white refugees relocated to their new home in their quest for better opportunities.
This decision comes as a result of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Land Expropriation Bill, which was signed into effect earlier this year.
After the president signed the bill into full effect, Donald Trump, on the other hand, condemned the country’s government’s decision, claiming that white people are “victims of unjust racial discrimination.”
At the time, Donald Trump, who had just stepped into his role as United States president, commented on the matter.
“To go a step further, any Farmer (with family!) from South Africa, seeking to flee that country for reasons of safety, will be invited into the United States of America with a rapid pathway to Citizenship,” Donald wrote in a Truth Social post.
Reuters, meanwhile, reported that in an interview with US immigration officers, these white refugees have highlighted that some of their biggest struggles included land disputes, crime, as well as perceived racism.
The group has since been reported that the first group has already departed to start their new life and will soon arrive at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia, where they will participate in a press conference before being scattered to their various locations.
Meanwhile, the local government had denied that Afrikaners had been stripped of their land and were being persecuted, but also noted that they would not stand in their way and give them their freedom of choice to relocate.
