Generations: The Legacy star Mondli Thusi shared his experience of surviving a vicious pitbull attack, which left him with wounds on his legs, arms, and buttocks. His near-death encounter with the canines occurred on Monday, 4 May 2026, in Boksburg, as he was walking towards a shop not too far from his complex.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Mondli said the dogs approached him at random and attacked him. While he tried to fight back, a motorist passed him, jumped out of his vehicle, and fired his gun at the ground, which helped stop the pitbulls from further mauling Mondli. As he tried to get to the armed man’s car, which was unfortunately locked at the time, one of the pitbulls followed him and bit his leg. He passed out in the car and regained consciousness when he returned to the complex, where he met emergency services.

Noxolo Kweza, a spokesperson for the Gauteng police, told the abovementioned publication that the authorities were investigating the matter.

According to MDN News, a source alleged that the owner of the pitbulls tried to deny ownership of both dogs.

“He is now claiming that he only owns one pitbull and that the other was taken by the SPCA. We are just wondering why they failed to take both of them, because it is clear that the owner is failing to keep them in a safe place where they won’t be able to attack other people.”

Another source told MDN News:

“These dogs must not be around people because they are very vicious. As Mondli lies in the hospital, he can’t even attend to his businesses and acting gigs. Those dogs tore him apart, and it was only through God’s grace that he managed to fight them off before they took his life.”
