Mzansi’s Hottest Over 40

by Boitumelo Mmakou

We loved seeing them on our television screens, and hope you like reading about them.

SHONA FERGUSON (45)

shonaWe came to fall in love with Shona on Muvhango, watching his acting skills progress. However, seeing him as Dr Leabau was not enough. His bad boy tendencies as Tumi Tladi on The Wild made us love him even more. He was also a bad boy on Scandal! and Rockville, and we couldn’t get enough of his talent. We love that though he carries the bad boy image on the small screen, he’s in fact a sweetheart in real life.

VUSI KUNENE (49)

vusiHe is extremely talented – with multiple awards to prove it. That’s one reason we love Vusi. However, we also love that he is down to earth. There is no good man, than one who can keep his private life private.

HLOMLA DANDALA (40)

hlomlaYou can’t question Hlomla’s acting skills. If the movies Lord of War, Eternity, Contract and Fools aren’t good enough to make you believe how amazing he is, then perhaps his role as Derek Nyathi on Isidingo or Jacob on Jacob’s Cross should convince you that he deserves an Oscar or two.

LUTHULI DLAMINI (45)

luthuli-dlaminiIf his acting isn’t good enough to have you fanning yourself, then perhaps his British accent is…Have you heard the guy speak? We simply cannot get enough of his English charm. The Zimbabwean-born actor has had his fair share of whiplash from the media industry, but we are certain his incredible acting skills will win over the critics; and we can’t wait to see him excel.

SIYABONGA TWALA (46)

Siyabonga-Twala-America has Patrick Dempsey and we have Siyabonga as our McDreamy. He is not just Mr Handsome, but scores high on the talented actor ranks. He’s won awards such as SAFTAs’Golden Horn Award for Best Actor in a TV Soap and Golden Horn Award for Best Actor in a TV Drama Series, among many others. His many roles in the past decade have proved how versatile he is. He is quite phenomenal on Isibaya as well. However, we sure hope he does more roles in future, perhaps in an upmarket film production.
