For The RnB Craze

by Boitumelo Mmakou

This year’s RnB nominees for the South African Music Awards are proof that the genre is alive and kicking in South Africa. Here are our favourites and artists we think will walk away with an award.

LULU DIKANA

Although her passing devastated the music industry, there will never be an artist like her. We also take this moment to acknowledge her greatness. Her unique RnB sound will surely remain as an inspiration for years to come.

MONEOA

Beautiful, talented and smart, Moneoa is no longer the new girl on the block. Her sound is fresh and poetic, making women around the country sing out loud to her catchy songs.

VUSI NOVA

The handsome Mr Nova loves love, and it shows in his songs. If RnB had a male sound, we think Vusi would be it. His voice is striking and soothing.

THE SOIL

This trio definitely remains authentic and consistent. No strangers to the SAMAs, we’re sure this group will walk away with a SAMA because they inject vibrancy to the genre.

Who do you think will walk away with an RnB award? Do you have any of these musicians’ albums?
