Football fans react to Messi’s sudden retirement

In an interview early this morning, Lionel Messi announced his retirement from international football. This happened an hour after Messi’s Argentina lost in the final of the Copa America against Chile in a breathtaking penalty shootout. This is the third consecutive final they’ve lost in the last three years.

With the 2018 World Cup just around the corner, soccer fans across the globe took to social media to express their disappointment at the soccer star’s decision. We share the same sentiments; the Barcelona midfielder is only 29 years old and still has a lot to offer his national team. Here are some of the opinions that have been coming in from all over the world.
