WHAT TO APPLY

You may have found a moisturiser that works just fine in spring and summer, but as the weather changes, so too should your skin care products. Apply rich and nourishing skin care products on a daily basis for the best winter skin.

WHEN TO APPLY

Ignore the often-repeated advice about ‘applying moisturiser to damp skin’. The moisture on your skin actually dilutes the cream – so in effect, you’re applying a lighter film of moisturiser rather than the rich dose that the skin really needs, especially in winter. Remember to pay special attention to areas which are particularly prone to dryness like the hands, elbows and knees.

YOUR SKIN IN HOT WATER?

Soaking in a hot bath feels great after being out in the cold, but the intense heat of a hot shower or bath actually breaks down the lipid barriers in your skin, leading to a loss of moisture. Rather dress warmly when you go outside and have a warm bath that won’t damage your skin.

HYDRATION IS THE ANSWER

Did you know your skin loses moisture every minute? Just like your body needs hydration in the form of your 8 glasses of water a day, so does your skin. Moisturising is like giving it a refreshing drink of water. Vaseline lotions and creams are designed to replenish your skin’s moisture content, protecting it from further damage and dehydration, so your skin will be left feeling hydrated from deep within.

BLOCK OUT THE SUN

We tend to be better about using sun protection in summer, but don’t be fooled, the sun is still harsh enough to damage our skin in winter. Make sure you use sun block or protective clothing when you head outdoors.
