Ways to live more life

by Ayanda Sithole

We all want to live life to our full potential. And, a healthy lifestyle makes it possible to #LiveMoreLife

How you can #LiveMoreLife

Besides cooking heart-healthy meals and striving to live a balanced life, Flora recommends the following:

Get moving

Find ways to exercise and work your heart muscles while having fun. This way, it won’t feel like a chore. Go for a walk with a friend, try running, take the stairs or simply mix and match your gym workouts.

Cut your stress level

Find healthy ways to cope with stress – exercising being one of them. Make time in your life for what really matters; family, friends and laughter. Try a new hobby or take out a colouring book and pencils and have some me time.

Sleep tight

Getting a good night’s sleep is very important. This is because a lack of sleep can affect your stress level, alertness, temper, blood pressure and heart health.

“The key to a healthy life is a balance of everything – diet, regular exercise and minimal stress.” – Letshego Zulu, biokineticist

Live a healthier lifestyle – #LIVEMORELIFE

Did you know that 1 in 3 men and 1 in 4 women in South Africa are at risk of cardiovascular disease before the age of 60? This is why Flora is on a mission to make the world’s hearts healthier.

Eating for heart health

Essential or mono and polyunsaturated fats play an integral role in maintaining heart health. They are also important building blocks of cells. Flora margarine comprises of various essential fats as it is made from nutrient-rich plant and seed oils, such as sunflower, canola and linseed. Many of these oils are rich in omega-3, which is good for the heart. They are extracted and purified before being combined with other natural ingredients. Therefore, Flora has a variety of healthy essential fats, vitamins and minerals that assist in maintaining heart health.

Make your own margarine

All you need to make your own margarine is sunflower and canola oils, full-cream milk, egg yolk, lemon juice, salt and turmeric. Blend the oils with milk, and add egg yolk as an emulsifier. The lemon juice or citric acid acts as preservative while turmeric gives colour. Then add salt for seasoning, and place in the fridge to solidify.
