5 minutes with Trompies

by Kwanele Mathebula
Trompies

Kwaito group Trompies members Eugene Mthethwa and Jairus Jakarumba Nkwe chat to us about their new music and upcoming performance at the Red Bull Music Festival. By Kwanele Mathebula

Red Bull and Trompies started working together years ago.

Jakarumba: The energy drink company has always been supportive of our music and often ask us to perform at its events. The performances are always fun and memorable.

Eugene: The international brand is actually one of the few companies that have invested in the local music industry. We’re happy that, with over 25 years in the industry, we’re still able to do what we love most.

At the festival, the popular group will showcase some of their classic music.

Eugene: We are looking forward to taking our fans down memory lane as we perform all the favourites.

Jakarumba: We will also be dressed in our usual pantsula gear along with our high-energy performance. We’re excited for a chance to interact with our fans at the festival. See you there!

Fans can expect more from Trompies.

Jakarumba: We are working on individual projects that will be released sometime this year. After that, the group will get in the studio to work on a long overdue album.

Eugene: Watch this space; we will be dominating it.

The Red Bull Music Festival takes place from 3 to 8 April 2018 in Johannesburg. Find tickets here.
