SA reacts to President Jacob Zuma’s resignation

by Bridgette Matjuda
President Zuma

President Jacob Zuma resigned last night as the President of South Africa. This comes after the ruling party, ANC recalled him and announced its plans to pass a motion of no confidence vote in parliament earlier this week. Zuma’s resignation sent the country into a whirlwind of emotions and mixed reactions from citizens across social media.

Here’s a look at a few reactions.

Views from Rural areas and Taxi Ranks are different from those in Sandton, Hydepark and Twitter “No one is perfect, but Zuma delivered for me ….I don’t think the incoming President will satisfy everyone.“#ZumaResigns pic.twitter.com/5Rk7bJSfgB

I don’t know, something about #ZumaResigns doesn’t feel right. It’s like this weird gut feeling of uncertainty that I have.

The winds of change are blowing in South Africa. Ubaba ka Duduzane has fallen on his own sword ? and vacated the presidential office with immediate effect. The Rand is gaining momentum and has raced to R11.74/$. Investors are happy and this will soon reflect in the market. #zumaexit #zumarecall #zumaresigns #zumahasfallen
